It’s amazing how many things fall by the wayside in those first few weeks home after having a child. The absolute and total exhaustion completely consumes your life. As for me, I became a glorified feeding machine for my beautiful daughter, and all I was really able to accomplish was feeding her every 2-3 hours and then sleeping the rest of the time (and on those very rare occasions, grabbing a shower).
Now at 6 weeks postpartum, I’m at least able to get myself cleaned up and make dinner, do a load of laundry or two. The house is still a bit of a mess, and I’m still exhausted all of the time — but it’s getting easier every day. For the first time, I’m able to sit down and take time for some personal projects as my baby girl sleeps. This also means I’ll finally be able to get back to my blog and journal, and able to jump back into my crafting (if I can even remember how to knit anymore… it’s been so long!)
So the point of this short-but-sweet post is simply to say this — I’m finally back and have a sense of normalcy in my life again. And I just want to say yes… motherhood is exhausting… but you really do get used to it and my goodness, it is SO WORTH IT!
